Week 36 - Indian Saree

Women of India are known across the world for their beauty, grace and intelligence.  In fact, over the years, many of them have won major beauty pageants across the world.  And no matter how moderm or outgoing they could become, they still love to wear it.

The saree is a very popular attire of Indian women.  I admire how they dress themselves of such colorful traditional saree.

Now, I bring you as my photo project for the week.  The very nice Ms. M looking attractive and posing for me in a beautifully designed saree.

Week 35 - Photography 101 by Zack A.

So we drove down to Dubai for GPP's workshop and seminars.  Particularly, I will feature my Photography 101 workshop.

We finally met the coolness in photography, one of our favorite photographers, Zack Arias. Me and my husband are avid followers of his blog, so needless to say, we are a HUGE fan.

Zack’s Photography 101 workshop for GPP covered everything from the basics of photography, workflow, making beautiful portraits with natural light, to post-production, to marketing and getting your name out there, and even a real-world scenario, where we had to photograph two models outdoors.  I have learnt so many things and got loads of ideas.  I may say I've been inspired to learn more on photography.

So what have I learned?  Plenty!  But I will only site the most important thing I've learned.
The fact that there are only few photographers do master their medium.  Instead they do allow the the gadget to master them and splurge their hard earned money to chase new lens or new gadget without staying into one piece of equipment long enough to master its capabilities. This is a big fact to me.  The less equipment I have the less I worry about.  "Great gear does not equal great photography".  Well, I couldn't agree less on Zack about it.  Knowing my equipment will give confidence in taking photographs.

For the technicalities...See it from the shots I had.  These  are just sample exercises in taking portraits using natural light.  I will post more on these in the following weeks.

And here is the rest of the gang (Joey L. David Nightingale, Gregory Heisler, Manny Librodo, David Tejada and Zack Arias) with us!

Week 34 - Capturing Your Glow

I was so happy to see one of my favorite families last Friday. Melanie is now having a baby boy and I got the chance to watch her glow and capture the baby bump before it makes his way into the world.

I always like a variety of shots and although Melanie says she's doesn't know how to pose, she was very versatile in front of the camera, from an ordinary girl comes a special extraordinary person as you can see below!

Little MJ is so excited and can’t wait to start cuddling her baby brother.

Week 33 - Inspiration Through Art

A few months ago, I accidentally stumble to their heroes page and was touched by everyone's story. I've felt the tears and happiness of the mothers. Realizing how blessed my son is, I applied to be one of their participating photographer. I wanted to share my time and love of learning photography.

To my excitement,  reading their reply to my application.... it says "Your application has been accepted!!"

And the real challenge comes.  There are no such branch of their organization here in Abu Dhabi.  Fingers crossed,  I'm hoping I could start it here.  It is a difficult job to start it out zero and one thing for sure - that I don't know how to do it. But I have this peristence and hoping I could give happy memories to the families of the future heroes here in UAE, specifically Abu Dhabi.   I hope to bring smiles to these deserving families and be part of this project.

I'm looking for families in the Abu Dhabi area who have a child or know a child with a serious illness or life altering disability who might benefit from the project. I’m now one of several worldwide photographers who are on standby, ready to schedule a session.

Here goes,,, feel free to visit their website:

And if you decided you want someone be one of their HEROES, here's there flyer and a link to their application form.

BE A HERO

Note that I'm new addition to their list and not added to the website as of this moment.  But yet, families can  STILL request for a session here in ABU DHABI! It will take a few weeks to get caught up with them adding new volunteers all over the world.  Don't let that stop anyone from sending heroes in your area!
